About Me

Welcome to my blog - please make yourself comfortable and visit for awhile! I created this blog to have a place for family and friends that don't live close to us to be able to keep up with our daily activities and see pictures of our growing girls! It seemed that as hard as I tried to keep up with mailing current photos out to everyone, I just couldn't seem to do it! This blog definitely saves me those times when I'm behind on my picture mailouts!

A little bit about me ~

I'm a Christian wife and homeschooling mother to three little girls, ages 10, 7 and 4. We have been a homeschooling family since day 1 for all of our daughters. We are very thankful that this is an option for our family! We use a variety of homeschool books and methods, which I explain in more detail under our HOMESCHOOL tab - please take a look if you want to know more about our homeschool methods!

My husband is a financial planner, rancher and SFC in the Army Reserves. Hubby has been called back to active duty again this year - he left on 01 October 2009 for at least one year as an instructor stationed at Ft. Knox, KY. Last time he was mobilized was from Jan 2006 - July 2007. At that time our youngest daughter was 2 months old when he left. This time she's almost 4, so we're looking forward to having the opportunity to go visit him in Kentucky some times over the course of the next year!

We also own M4-D Ranch and raise hormone and antibiotic-free, pastured beef. We have anywhere from 40-70 cattle at any given time on 80 acres that we lease in the next county. We believe cows are supposed to eat grass, the way they were created and also believe in the healthier profile of beef raised only on grass, so this is how we do it! We sell our beef directly to families in our area. For more information about our beef, you can visit our website at M4-D Ranch.

We also have bees - currently 5 beehives. We sell some honey and I make various products with our beeswax - skin creams, lotion bars, lip balms, bow wax, etc. You can see all of my various creations at this link: Little Lady Bees Cosmetic Products.

Prior to having children and our homeschool activities, I worked in the field of clinical research and still do consulting from home in this area. I've been working in this field for 20 years (wow, that much time has certainly crept up on me!).

We are working hard in our home to de-clutter, reduce, simplify, slow-down and live a more low impact lifestyle. I have more details about how we're trying to do this at the LOW IMPACT tab, if you want to see what we're up to! Our future goals include leaving the suburbs and moving out to the country closer to our cows.

As a family we love to do LOTS of things - like
~ cook and bake from scratch
~ enjoy good homemade food
~ garden and preserve the harvest
~ spend time with our girls
~ spend time with good friends
~ spend time with our cows
~ spend time in worship and thanksgiving

We try to eat a diet that is free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives - this is a big focus for us. If you would like more information about how we do this, please see our HEALTHY HABITS tab.

In all, we try to enjoy each day that we've been given and teach our girls to do the same. Enjoy your visit!
