This is week 4 for One Local Summer and week 3 for Local Food Month. We were blessed this weekend to have my hubby home for a weekend pass from Ft. Knox to share in our main local meal this week. After checking on our cows yesterday, he went with us to the Farmer's Market and we had some great finds. More about those in another post. We then started on a couple of batches of Tomato Preserves before having dinner. More about those in another post as well!
For this week's delicious meal we had:
Baked Lamb Chops - delicious and local - from the Urban's about 25 miles away. Seasoned lightly with salt, pepper, rosemary from the bush outside my front door, a little garlic and some Adobo seasoning. YUM.
Sauteed Cabbage and Asparagus - the cabbage was from the Farmer's Market grown by Jason and Maya Lor in Middleton, TN - about 50-60 miles away. Asparagus was not local, it came from a local produce market.
Potato Pancakes - potatoes from the Farmer's Market and the Lor's; eggs from our church friends who live about 12 miles away. We get fresh eggs from them every week. Not local; flour, salt, pepper.
Red Cyn Wine - for drinks from Old Medina Winery in Jackson, TN - about 90 miles away. Dear hubby brought me another bottle when he came home this weekend. I love it!
